How to Donate Hair in Korea | Step-by-Step Guide

How to Donate Hair in Korea | Step-by-Step Guide 💇♀️
Hair donation is a meaningful way to help cancer patients and those suffering from hair loss due to medical conditions. However, many hesitate due to concerns about length requirements or hair treatment history. The good news? Even if your hair is dyed, permed, or shorter than 25cm, it can still be donated! 🎉
This guide covers everything you need to know about donating hair in Korea, including the eligibility requirements, donation process, and tips for a smooth experience. Let’s get started! 💡
✅ Why is Hair Donation Important?
For individuals undergoing chemotherapy or experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions, natural hair wigs can be life-changing. However, real-hair wigs are expensive and not easily accessible. By donating your hair, you help provide these wigs to those in need.
Benefits of hair donation:
- Helping cancer patients and individuals with hair loss
- Preventing waste by putting cut hair to meaningful use
- Receiving a donation certificate (great for volunteering records!)
- Experiencing the fulfillment of making a difference
📌 Hair Donation Process (4 Easy Steps)
1️⃣ Preparing and Cutting Your Hair
📍 Hair Requirements
- Hair 25cm (10 inches) or longer is recommended, but even shorter hair can sometimes be accepted.
- I only met the 25cm requirement the first time; since then, I’ve been donating hair around 20cm long.
- Dyed, permed, and gray hair are all accepted
- Hair must be washed and completely dry before cutting
📍 You can ask your hair salon to cut it for donation
- Visit a salon and ask them to “cut my hair neatly for donation” — they will tie it and cut it properly.
- You can also cut your hair at home, but if you want it to look clean and tidy, getting it done at a salon is recommended.
📌 TIP: After COVID-19, hair donations have decreased significantly — your contribution is more important than ever! 🙌
2️⃣ Packing and Sending the Hair
-
📍 Mailing Address: As of 2025, the old address is no longer valid. Please use the new address below:
Old Address: 3rd Floor, 24 Hwarang-ro 45-gil, Nowon-gu, Seoul (Wolgye-dong) (Zip: 01194)- New Address: 18-9, Soheul-ro 116beon-gil, Soheul-eup, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea (Zip: 11183)
-
📞 Contact: As of 2025, the phone number is no longer public due to the address change. Since it’s unclear if the old number is still in use, it’s recommended to write your own number as the recipient’s contact when sending the parcel.
Old Phone Number: 070-5030-0277- New Phone Number: Not publicly available
- You must send the donation by parcel service, and the donor is responsible for the shipping cost. I usually use convenience store delivery (GS25).
- Make sure to pack the donated hair securely in a box or envelope before sending.
📌 TIP: Some delivery apps offer discount coupons when booking from convenience stores! 😊
3️⃣ Register Your Donation (Online Application)
📍 Sign Up on the Official Website: http://www.kwith.org
- Go to “UmunaUndong(어머나운동) -> Hair Donation -> Hair Donation Application”
- Fill out the donor’s name, contact details, and hair donation information.
- You can edit your submission if there’s a mistake.
📌 TIP: While this does not count towards volunteer hours, you will receive a donation certificate for proof! ✅
4️⃣ Download Your Donation Certificate
📍 Check your donation certificate 3 weeks after submission
- Go to “Hair Donation → Donation Certificate” to download.
- If your certificate is unavailable after 3 weeks, contact support for verification.
📌 Important Notes:
- No email or paper certificates—you must download it yourself.
🎯 Essential Hair Donation Tips
- ✅ Shorter than 25cm? You can still donate! → Don’t hesitate just because of length.
- ✅ Dyed or permed hair is accepted! → Only severely damaged hair may be rejected.
- ✅ Make sure the hair is completely dry before sending. → Wet hair can develop mold.
- ✅ Use registered mail or a courier for tracking. → Standard mail cannot be tracked.
- ✅ Wait 3 weeks to check your donation certificate. → It is not issued immediately.
📌 Planning a haircut? Ask your salon about hair donation! ✂️
💡 Small Acts, Big Impact: Why You Should Donate Hair

Growing your hair takes years, but donating it only takes minutes. By donating, you can help someone regain confidence and hope.
I always thought about donating hair but never got around to it. Once I finally did, I realized it was so easy! Now, I have donated twice, and I plan to do it again as soon as my hair grows back. 😊
Since COVID-19, the number of donors has decreased, so every donation matters! 💖
✔️ Thinking about a haircut? Consider donating your hair before visiting the salon! ✔️ Spread the word! The more people know about hair donation, the bigger the impact.
📌 Your small act of kindness can bring hope to someone in need. Let’s make a difference together! 🙌
